500 Cribbage is played with essentially the same rules and structure, but the points are scored differently depending which arena of the game you score them in. Peg scores during card play are valued at 6 points, scores from your hand are worth 4 points, and scores in your crib are worth 3 points.

Another feature of 500 Cribbage is that it changes the pip count to 34 from 31. Stauff makes this change based on Magic Square logic, using the magic number of the 4 x 4 Magic Square. Stauff also sets a pre-determined number of deals (5) for each player. Points are tallied at the end of the game and the high score is the winner.
